Mel Parker

I am the owner of Perfect 4 You Personal Training. All my life I have been an athlete, but early on I was unaware of the benefits of weight training as a complement to any healthy lifestyle. One day while playing a pick-up game, I tore my Achilles tendon. I was 43 years old and I knew the healing process for such an injury was going to be more difficult due to my age. At the time one of my friends, Ortho Davis, former head trainer of the Philadelphia Eagles, suggested that I do my rehab at the Vet. At the same time Randall Cunningham, a good friend of mine, was rehabbing his knee. He suggested one day that we go to the weight room. From that day on, I fell in love with lifting and have been weight training ever since. I wanted to share the benefits and education of my healthy lifestyle with others. I have been a Certified Fitness Trainer (CFT) with the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) since 1999. ISSA is a world leader in Fitness certification and has been in existence since 1988. The organization's founders and the majority of the ISSA professors and advisors are both world class athletes and people who possess extraordinary academic backgrounds, as well as those with practical experience. As a part of my certification, I must participate in ongoing training at least every two years. Recently, I also received certification from the American Aerobic Association International/International Sports Medicine Association (AAAI/ISMA). I undertake independent study to ensure that I am aware of the latest research and standards in weight training and nutritional planning. I am also certified in automated external defibrillator (AED) Essentials, Adult, Infant and Child CPR, as well as First Aid Basics by the American Red Cross.

Christian Thomas

I am a personal trainer at Perfect 4 You Fitness. I have my degree in Health and Exercise Science, along with my teaching certification, from Rowan University. I have been an active personal trainer with Perfect 4 You Fitness since 2007. In addition to being a personal trainer, I have been a health and physical education teacher since 2009, teaching grades K-12 and gearing them towards a healthy and active lifestyle. Growing up, sports played a large influence in my own connection to living a healthy lifestyle, so I seek to provide the same fun and positive activities when I'm teaching fitness. I have always had a love for basketball and its fitness benefits, so I currently coach elementary grade school basketball to provide that same advantage to the children I teach. I also have a degree in substance abuse counseling. I am certified with American Muscle and Fitness, as well as being a nutritional supplement consultant for Perfect 4 You Fitness. I believe that there are no shortcuts to any place worth going, so I make sure to structure my personal training around full body workouts that will get you the results that you desire. I design each personal training session with your fitness and weight loss goals in mind, in order to push your body and have its progress be long lasting.     

Steve Downing

Over my 7 years of experience in the fitness business, I’ve helped all my clients lose over a total of 5,000 pounds. For many years, I worked as the General Manager of Pro Results at LA Fitness and E.F.T. at Retro Fitness for both of their numerous locations. Seeing the success of the clients I encountered made me want to focus on my sole passion, personal training. I have been an ISMA/AAAI certified personal trainer since 2008 and am currently pursing certification in nutrition counseling as well. I have been active in sports my whole life, such as football, wrestling, and track and field, and I like to bring that same athletic intensity to my workouts. For both my personal training session and group exercise classes, I always take an innovative approach to fitness and never like to give the same workout twice.  I believe that to find your power, you must keep testing your limits, so I strive to push my clients to achieve their best. I work with clients who are brand new to the fitness world all the way to training contestants for figure and bodybuilding competitions. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, I know what it’ll take to get you to achieve your goals and make them last for a lifetime.
